About
Anke Duffy
Anke Duffy is a professional artist based near Okotoks, Alberta. From her home studio, Anke paints a variety of subject matter including portraiture, landscape and florals in oil and acrylic mediums. Inspired by her surroundings, Anke records her impressions in a realist style. Color and shapes are key components in Anke’s work and she enjoys utilizing light, shadow and texture to create a sense of depth in her paintings.
Born in Friesland, the Netherlands, Anke immigrated to Canada at a young age and grew up on a dairy farm in northern Alberta. As a child, Anke always loved to draw and paint and knew she wanted to pursue a career in art. Anke studied Visual Arts at Grande Prairie Regional College and in 2002 obtained her BFA majoring in Drawing at the Alberta College of Art and Design in Calgary.
Anke currently resides on an acreage south of Calgary near Aldersyde with her husband and four children, two dogs and a cat. She is a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, Okotoks Art Gallery and the Leighton Art Centre.
